Contemporary buildings often display aluminium and glass façades that lend them an intriguing form and aesthetic appearance. The façade system MB-70CW, the so-called “cold-hot” window-based façade, stands out in this group of products in terms of innovative solutions.
Several decades ago building façades contained various decorative items that gave them a particular air. Nowadays, contemporary system solutions are on the rise, harvesting the potential of glass and aluminium.
Apart from aesthetic quality, glass façades show exceptional durability – they prove highly resistant to atmospheric factors and do not require extensive maintenance. Mullion and transom system-based façades have gained most popularity in this regard. Whereas, readily incorporated into reinforced concrete and masonry objects are the so-called window façades. By virtue of the use of special thermal inserts in their profiles coupled with composite glass with a suitable resistance grade, the façade system may protect the inside of the building as well: in the winter – against heat loss, in the summer – against overheating. Such glass elements require innovative solutions that shall ensure the building user’s full comfort and protection. – The ALUPROF MB-70CW façade, based on window system fitted with the MB-70US “concealed leaf” is optimally adaptable to the character of respective buildings – says JanuszChwastek, Aluprof brand expert and the structural designer of the system. – By means of the application of two types of panels – “hot” or “cold”, the integrity of a uniform glass façade need not be compromised by the deployment of more expensive mullion and transom systems.
“Hot” panels are thermally insulated windows, mounted outside the building front at the window openings. “Cold” panels are inter-window strips that protect the structure and the thermal insulation of the walls (e.g. mineral wool) against the harmful effect of rainfall and snowfall. Such structure helps to reduce the duration of construction works as it is possible to close windows even prior to the completion of inter-window strips and the external shade of the façade.MB-70CW is characterised by high technical parameters. It isalso available in a version with improved thermal insulation, MB-70CW HI, for which the thermal transmittance factor for the structure Uf amounts to 1.49 W/m²K or higher.
Aluprof window-based façade meets the stringent criteria set by architects and investors. The heating and cooling panels show little difference from the outside and so do fixed and moveable elements. The visible parts of aluminium sections are narrow when seen from the outside (width 78.5mm), lending a slender and lightweight air to the structure. The solution is also cost-efficient both at construction and exploitation stage, positively affecting the investment costs and normal performance of the building structure.
